The iconic chin is gone for a more boxy style
Leaked photos from a reliable leaker Evan Blass (via 91Mobiles) provides us with the first glimpse of what is believed to be a prototype from the 3rd version of the Motorola Razr. The phone is codenamed Maven has two new cameras on the back of it: 50MP f/ 1.8 main sensor, and 13MP sensors for ultra-wide and macro images.
In the photo of the device closed, you’ll notice it appears to have gone missing it’s “chin,” or the lip that was extended outwards in previous versions of this device. It appears as if it folds over itself, creating an equilateral triangle when closed, a departure from the current versions of the device as well as its original design.Blass mentions the sensor for fingerprints is now located near the button for power, most likely situated on the rear that the phone. Motorola initially put the sensor for fingerprints on the side of the Razr for the 2019 Razr but then moved it to the rear of the device in the upgraded 5G Razr it launched in 2020. Both of these placements were not the best –
Motorola is expected to launch an unspecified variant of this device that comes with an Snapdragon 8Gen 1 system on a chip (SoC) and the “Plus” variant, presumably equipped with an upgraded, not yet known, processor. In terms of storage, it’s said to have as much as 12GB RAM as well as up to the capacity of 512GB internal storage.
With its sleeker appearance and dual sensor cameras, it seems like Motorola is preparing to be a contender to Samsung’s top foldable, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 Galaxy Z Flip 3. The initial two Razr reboots weren’t the most exciting The 2019 model was priced at $1,499 with a cost and a host of flaws such as a squishy display with a creaky hinge, poor camera. Motorola’s next version wasn’t any better, and even the addition of 5G did not justify the $1,399 price tag.
