Borna Barisic is the son of Bosnian Croat parents in Osijek within the Eastern Croatian area of Slavonia. The father of Barii, Stipe “Moljac” Barii is a Galei native, and Barii’s mother Verica (nee Toki) was a Strabenica native. At the end of summer 2017, Borna Barisic was spotted by a Ukrainian team Dynamo Kyiv, with whom Barii agreed to personal terms. Dynamo, however, on the other however, decided to sign Josip Pivari from Dinamo Zagreb at the last second.
