WhatsApp will cease to work on certain very old iPhone models. The company made this clear in a brand new update to support. Instant messaging has stated that it will cease service for iOS 10 and iOS 11 devices later in the year.
According to a WABetaInfo story, WhatsApp has begun to warn very old iPhone models users who are running iOS 10 or iOS 11 that they should upgrade to the latest version of their phones to continue using WhatsApp until the 24th of October.
“WhatsApp will cease to support the current version of iOS from the 24th of October 2022. Go into settings and then General Then click Software Update to download the most recent iOS version.”The warning text reads.
There are not many iPhones that are running iOS 10 and iOS 11. The two only devices included in the iPhone range are iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c. If you have very old iPhone, you will be unable to access WhatsApp for your iPhone starting on the 24th of October. For users of an iPhone 5, the iPhone 5s, or iPhone 6, WhatsApp will continue to work for the time being however they will be notified when their devices cease to support the instant messaging app that is owned by Meta.

If you’re not aware, iPhone 5 and 5c will not be supported in the coming WhatsApp update, as these phones have been using iOS 10.11 and 11. If you have the latest version of your iPhone that includes an iPhone 6 or above, you can upgrade your phone to a more recent version by navigating to the phone’s settings.
For Android devices, they must run Android 4.1 or higher for it to work with WhatsApp. With iOS 16 right around the close, Apple is expected to discontinue support for iPhone 6 series as well as the original iPhone SE.
