Facebook Messenger continues to be one of the top chat apps, following WhatsApp. Meta reports that calls made on the app have grown by 40% in the last year in the last year, largely due to the pandemic.

To that end, Meta is making it easier to make calls via the app, thanks to a brand new design change. The Messenger app will have an additional tab for video and audio calls in the function tab on the bottom. This will make it easier to locate the button for calling.

Before this update was made, people were required to create distinct chat sessions for every person to call them. Now, it is possible to do this directly from the main page.

Its “Calls” tab will appear alongside “Chats”, “Stories” and “People” and will open the list of your contacts, with distinct buttons for video and voice phone calls per. It’s a small upgrade, but it’s likely to create Messenger an app for calling in the same way as an application for messaging like WhatsApp.

Meta has been adding improvements to Messenger from the beginning of the year, including reactions, stickers, messages-specific replies, and many more. The brand new “Calls” tab should become accessible to all users with the upcoming updates.
