What is the Angry Whopper?

The Angry is a quarter-pound flame-grilled beef patty topped with melted American Cheese, Angry Sauce, and crispy angry onion petals. It also includes melted cheese and shredded iceberg salad.

The term “angry” refers to a hot burger that will rile up your taste buds and set your mouth ablaze… but the Angry sauce has more zest. Like chipotle sauce. The jalapenos are canned, so they lack some of their freshness. Both leave much to be desired.

It’s interesting to see that cheese served in different countries can vary in quality. Franchises in the US, for example, serve American cheese. Many franchises in the UK offer pepper jack cheese. Believe it or not, my first Whopper was in Cozumel Mexico. Manchego cheese is the most common sandwich cheese. There are double and triple patty options.

History: From where did the Angry Whopper originate?

The Angry Whopper was first introduced by Burger King in 2008 in the UK. It then made its way to the United States in 2009, where it was sold in franchises. The Angry Whopper’s flavorful kick but lack of true spiciness was why it was discontinued. In 2016, the Angriest Whopper was introduced. It comes with a red bun with spicy sauce-infused red sauce.

Although the Angriest-Whopper had some heat, excitement about this new option waned. Burger King discovered through focus groups and advertising that customers preferred the full flavor without the red sauce-infused bun. So they re-released their crunchy Angry Burger sans bun in 2019.

It’s probably safe to say that it has been through several revisions.

The Angry Whopper is one of my favorite fast-food burgers. The quarter-pound flame-grilled meat patty is tender and all the ingredients work well together. Although the mayo and Angry Sauce give the burger a Chipotle-like flavor, the Angry Sauce isn’t as hot as it sounds. The crispy, angry onion petals add an interesting variation to the grilled onions found on most burgers.

Sliced jalapenos add some heat, but when combined these ingredients don’t provide as much spice as you might think. The Angry Whopper’s fresh tomato slices and iceberg salad give it a lightness, freshness, and great taste.

And the crispy bacon strips make everything better! Soft sesame seed buns and a generous Angry Whopper make it a great choice. I was quite satisfied with the meal, even without fries or a drink. Each bite is packed with flavor and crunch.

The nutrition. It’s unlikely that most people buy fast food burgers with high-nutrition content. It’s a great meal that I can grab when I’m hungry and need something quick and filling.

The Whopper has 850 Calories and is sure to cause a disruption in your daily caloric intake. It contains 53 grams of fat and 59 grams of carbs. The Angry Whopper contains 695 calories without the bun and cheese.

It also has 427.5 calories of fat, 467.5 grams of fat, and 16 grams of saturated fat. 1325 mg sodium is added. There are 37 grams of carbs and 12 grams of sugar.

Is it worth it? [5/5]

The Whopper is limited in availability. I’d say this if you’re looking for a delicious meal packed with flavor and crunch, it’s a great choice. This burger is worth the price, especially considering that it’s under $5. It’s likely you will miss it, so grab it before it’s gone!

Final Verdict

The Angry Whopper offers great value and a variety of flavor options. Although the Angry Sauce signature doesn’t pack as much heat as its name implies, it adds a nice kick to the burger. Extra jalapenos would spice it up.
